Your Plastic Brain is inspired by Multipolar neurons, they are found in abundance in the brain and spinal cord. Neurons are fascinating as they are part of the plastic potential of the brain – new connections mean new possibilities.

The mark making embraces this fluidity, they are created by applying ink onto fabric. Where the ink falls the neuron cell body is formed, from there the axon, dendrites and axon terminals grow out with stitch, following the spread of the ink on the fabric. The fabric is woven, a highly organised network of threads, similar to how some feel the brain is organised. This echo’s a reoccurring theme in the artists work – the balance between chaos and order.
