Description
The mark making in Your Plastic Brain embraces fluidity of potential. The marks are created by applying ink onto fabric. Where the ink falls the neuron cell body is formed, from there the dendrites and axons grow out with each stitch, following the spread of the ink on the fabric. The fabric is woven, a highly organised network of threads, similar to how some feel the brain is organised. The different structure and approach to materials in this work echo’s a reoccurring theme in the artists work – the balance between unpredictability (the spread of the ink) and order (the woven fabric).
